Are you planning your vacation to Marco Island?  The island is a popular destination for summer vacations with its beautiful beaches, turquoise water and stunning sunsets. Located an hour drive south of the Ft Myers Airport, many will rent a car, but there are shuttle options. Most everything on the island is easily accessible, so if you are not planning on doing a lot of exploring, renting a car may not be necessary and will save you some money.

While the beach or pool will most likely be your go to hangouts and the reason you are vacationing here, remember a few important tips.  Stay hydrated, water is your friend, especially with little ones. Practice sun safety, and have a backup plan in case of unexpected weather conditions. Summer storms are almost daily down here, and our storms can pack a punch. Lightning is not something to mess around with.  Remember, if it roars go indoor. If you can hear thunder you are close enough to be struck and the beach is no place to be, nor is under a palm tree. And lastly, sunscreen. Just when you think you have enough on, apply more. The UV index is high. We are closer to the equator and the sun is more intense, even on mildly warm days. Be sure to apply on your face and ears too. If you wear a watch, and do not plan to wear it for your photos, then I highly recommend taking it off so you don’t have any tan lines. Other than that, have fun!!
